After falling off a building holding a magical staff American teenager
Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano) finds himself transported to
ancient China, where he meets drunken immortal Lu Yan (Jackie Chan),
Golden Sparrow (Yifei Liu) and the silent monk (Jet Li). Jason discovers
that he must fulfil a prophecy and return the magical staff to the
legendary Monkey King (Jet Li) so that he can defeat the Jade Warlord
(Collin Chou), but the Jade Warlord wants the staff for himself and
sends out a band of warriors led by the White Witch Ni Chang
(Bing Bing Li) to recover the staff before they can return it to the
Monkey King.
