Customaniacs Label Preview / Action file

2 Attachment(s)
Photoshop label preview action file, originally created by chewbacca98, edited size and background colour for Customaniacs.

With your label open just run the action to create a preview with the correct dimensions and background colour for Customaniacs - just remember to save it with a new filename ;).

Thanks very much for this one-will come in most handy.

jkasanic 16-07-2007 03:13

Thanks Dangle! Just started using this one as well...very nice! Now all you need to do is write a script that combines all of the previews together into one big preview!! I know, I'm lazy! :)

DarkSekhem 16-07-2007 13:04

Thanks for this.. Will come in very useful.

Oh I wish ! Unfortunately I'm not bright enough to work out how to do that :spaz

Any way to make the background of this transparent instead of black?

Black? The background colour is 40,40,40 - the same grey as the site.

Not quite sure what you are after as you can't save a jpg with a transparent background. If you want just the disc layer you need to undo the last two actions that are run from the 'History' - flatten and resize. Then you will have the disc layer without the background. You will need to resize it smaller again though.

Many thanks for the update Dangle

jkasanic 28-09-2007 22:48

Multiple label previews have to be done individually and then combined together. You can use the same action file here but after running it go to the 'history' and undo the last two steps - flatten and resize - then you have the disc layer without the background which you can combine with others.

newbie1 14-10-2007 00:11

Thanks. I will do that. Best regards.

TheNatural69 16-10-2007 00:49

How exactly do you import/use this "Action" into CS3?

Place the Customaniacs Label Preview.atn file into your preferred CS3 actions directory, mine is : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions\ but for some this may be within their 'profile' directory.

Then you need to import the action file into CS3 either via the 'Load Actions' option in the Actions drop-down menu or you can just drag and drop it from the actions folder where we placed it directly to your Actions toolbar in CS3.

Good luck!

Ironride 10-03-2008 03:32

Thanks Dangle

Ironride 12-03-2008 03:41

Will this only work with CS3? I have PS 6.0 and the preview didn't come out right.

Dangle 12-03-2008 07:53

Sorry, can't vouch for Photoshop 6 - I've used it with both CS2 & CS3 with no problems. If you can work out what went wrong with the preview i.e. which step(s) failed then you may be able to edit the action file. What does the finished preview look like?

Trixerbell 12-03-2008 11:59

my first action ! thank you

sousa.rodrigo 27-04-2008 20:21

Great, thanks.

Trixerbell 09-07-2008 11:23

Dangle 09-07-2008 14:41

Thanks, I was looking for it yesterday and had trouble finding it myself!

grinch 11-07-2008 21:25

Thanks Dangle. It works great on my Abode PhotoShop 7. Now I need to figure out how to change the background colors on the preview so I can use it on different sites.

Thanks again bro.

Hi grinch,

All you need to do is check the 'Toggle Dialog On/Off' box next to the 'Fill' command 5th from the bottom of the list of actions (see pic below). When you run the action it will stop at that step and you can choose whichever colour you want - when you have entered the fill colour it will continue with the rest of the commands.

For regular use make a duplicate copy of the action file and rename it to whatever you like. Then select the Fill command 5th from bottom, record a new Fill command with the new background colour and then delete the old Fill command. You will then have an action file for your chosen background colour.

Good luck, let me know if you have any problems :thu

Glynty 24-07-2008 21:43

For Photoshop 6, Replace the last "Set Forground Color" with a new one using RGB 40/40/40. Then replace the following "Fill Using <unknown>" with a "Fill Using foreground color". Everything else looked good to me.

doodler69 12-10-2008 10:17

Thanks I'm ready to upload my first labels but getting the preview to look like discs is giving me grief. This should help.
