I realize this is an old thread, but would it be the same using CS5?

Great......!!! I've been wondering how this was done for quite some time. Thanks for the very well done tutorial.

The Tutorial is simple enough to follow... excellently done. However, my results are far different than what the video shows. First off, I'm using CS6 which may be the reason why due to some changes from previous versions? But in particular:

1. When setting the "feather" parameter, the selection itself is also affected; made smaller/contracted.

2. When I apply the "cut", it doesn't actually CUT but rather, it acts like it is reducing the opacity only. The front verticle edge and corners are still visible. Repeating the process 3+ times eventually removes the front edge and corners, but the image becomes too blurred, again as if the opacity was being reduced with each try.

Can someone using CS6 confirm this is their experience too? And even more important, can someone tell me how to accomplish this blurring technique as it should be using CS6? Perhaps this same phenomena is true for CS5 also?

TIA
