Comic Costumes Exposed
3 Attachment(s)
For those who have been asking about "How I go about creating" my costume covers?
Here is a section cut from my SPAWN cover while still in its layers (.psd file), from this you can open up all the layer styles to see what drop shadow, bevel, texture, etc has been applied. Also check the layer blending modes, see whether it is screen, softlight or multiply, as just by altering this can have a dramatic effect. I have labelled each layer with its corresponding element so hopefully you can see how each element is created and positioned. Specific elements like stitching (on Elektra & Catwoman especially), all that is is just typing "-----------" and a bevel added, simple but effective. I do use alien skin "Impact" filters for a lot of the chrome/rubber effects, just don't rely on the default settings, play around with bevel, smoothness, lighting, etc; you would be surprised how effective these filters can be if you experiment. I'm glad folks have liked my costumes, there are still more to be done. |

Maybe if I study this long enough, I could actually create a Flash cover that would almost fit together with your set. Thanks for this post to teach how you do this.

I thought for sure some sort of 3D program was involved. Truly impressive. Did you do the chains, skulls etc. by hand?
