i suspect you're using the same printable discs i have - Taiyo Yuden, glossy waterproof printables. beautiful finish, but they have that little white ring around the outer edge. Most of your labels print perfectly on them though. nice work.

Thanks ST. It's nice to hear all the comments...they are very much appreciated. However, I want to give ST an extra special thanks for understanding and posting what I have benn attempting to do. He is right about the discs I use and why my labels are made the way they are. That little white ring around them made me F$#king crazy when I saw it the first time, and I decided to do something about it. I actually had some clown on another site try to tell me that the printer will do the blur around the edges (which I already knew it did) but I didn't want to get into an argument over what I do vs. what the printer does.
Anyway, Thanks for recognizing my work.

My wife actually likes the little white ring, but i'm like you. I can't stand it. So keep making the labels the way you are.

I hope TY will make the labels actually print all the way to the edge in the near future. Verbatim does, but their glossies aren't waterproof and they're a bit sticky. I also want some glossy silvers.
:)

Anybody know where to get these in the UK?

Supreme Taco 21-07-2007 01:43

I'm not from the UK, but as a last resort you can get them from www.ebay.co.uk

Here is a direct link to some while it lasts...

ST,
Funny you mention a silver glossy; I was thinking (hoping) that same thing before you posted in this thread. Something else I thought would be cool, is maybe one of the companies could make a clear glossy disc. There seem to be enough clear surface items that are inkjet printable (mailing labels and such) why not apply that to the discs?
Just a thought.
By the way, have you read or heard anything about the PRIMERA discs. I was looking intto getting some of these for the fact they have a waterproof matte finish available. Just didn't want to spend the money and end up with some crap quality discs. I cant seem to find anything regarding the manufacturer.

Supreme Taco 22-07-2007 19:42

I didn't know Primera was even making their own discs now. But if price is a factor, they are even more expensive than TY.

Having more options is always good because it will only bring the prices lower for other things. I saw on their website that they have gold thermal printable cd-r's. I don't have a thermal printer anyway, but that would be really cool.

they also have printable blue-ray discs.
