It follows their progress starting with a crossing of the notorious Drake Passage to the Antarctic Peninsula, where they carried out scientific work from areas never sampled before. They are also the first people on the Sumner Glacier and recorded the furthest south for any British military yacht. While there they endured many forms of hardship - gales, blizzards, sub zero temperatures, icebergs, uncharted and shallow waters, mechanical failure, personal injury and a serious crevasse incident, as well as living in very cramped conditions aboard their expedition base, the yacht - Discoverer. Every month this always showcases some of the best covers created but this month so many seemed to excel themselves, I hope you take the time to look at the rest of the nominated covers, there are some fantastic ones there including my 3 joint favourites!
